Julia Stanley
Meet Julia
Julia was born and raised in Columbia, MO. She graduated from Mizzou with a bachelor’s degree in psychology with a minor in religious studies with a multicultural certificate in 2016. In 2020 she became a certified breathwork practitioner through BBTRI – the Biodynamic Breathwork and Trauma Release Institute. Julia is currently studying in her final year at Stephen’s College to become a clinical mental health counselor.
Julia has had a special interest in mindfulness and its ability to support healing for the past 10 years since she first took a religious studies course in high school. She incorporates mindfulness techniques in each aspect of her work as a counselor, helping clients to slow down and notice thoughts, feelings, and sensations and how they impact our choices and behaviors. She fell in love with body-based approaches to healing after completing her breathwork training in 2020 and is passionate about offering people a combination of top-down (mind) and bottom up (body) healing approaches that integrate the whole system – body, mind, and soul.
Working from a mindfulness-based, trauma-focused, and person-centered approach that has a leaning focus on insight, growth, and wellness Julia intends to support clients in whatever areas they need from a compassionate, patient, and loving stance. She understands that healing is not linear and believes beauty lies not only in the end goal but also in the process itself. She looks forward to supporting people through their process of meeting and coming to know healthier, stronger, and more radiant forms of themselves.
Her clinical interests include wholistic healing that incorporates the mind/body connection, trauma healing, PSTD, ketamine integration, nervous system regulation, LGBTQIA issues, communication skills, substance use management, spirituality, and grief and loss.
