Meet Mya


Mya graduated from Columbia College with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. She fell in love with the field of psychology and decided to earn her Master’s degree in Clinical and Mental Health Counseling. She is am currently in her final year at Stephens College and will soon be a PLPC. She has experience working as a case manager, working with the underprivileged community and children and families who are involved with child abuse and neglect, and working in mental and behavioral health preventative care. 

Mya practices from the humanistic and pragmatic school of thought.  Client-centered and Cognitive Behavioral are the theories that she leans towards. She believe that clients are the experts in their lives and that our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors are all interconnected. She will help clients develop coping skills, improve communication, and make positive behavioral changes. Mya is a compassionate listener who believes in the client/counselor working alliance to make the changes that the client wants to see.

Mya aims to work with couples to help them with communication since communication is key to a healthy relationship. She also would like to work with adolescents to help them work through their traumas. She aspires to be the best trauma counselor for adolescents and the best couple counselor that she can be to her clients.
