Meet Joan

Joan graduated from the University of Missouri with an M.Ed. in Educational and Counseling Psychology and she is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Missouri.

Joan has over thirty-five years of experience in the emergency services as a paramedic, firefighter, specialist instructor for law enforcement and in the development and facilitation of peer support programs.

​Joan’s career experiences facilitate a deeper understanding of crisis and trauma.

Her familial connection to Veterans and their challenges has created in her a passion for working with this population. She is committed to assisting Veterans in finding support and understanding.

One of the counseling techniques Joan practices is EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing); this is a process that has been proven to work well with trauma survivors and helps them to heal from the effects of trauma.
