Meet Lorena
Lorena has recently completed her Masters of Education in Counseling at Stephens College and is a Provisionally Licensed Professional Counselor. She completed a practicum at Great Circle under the supervision of Jen Engle, LPC. She then completed a two semester internship at Lawrence, Oliver, and Associates under the supervision of Chris Lawrence, Ph.D., SEP. Lorena works with children, adolescents, and adults and her clinical interests and experience include working with anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, all from a trauma informed perspective.
Lorena works from an integrative framework of client centered, Cognitive Behavioral Techniques, EMDR, and nervous system informed methods. She brings into the therapeutic environment unconditional positive regard, empathy, and genuineness. Lorena works with clients to identify feelings, develop emotional regulation, and build coping strategies to achieve change in behavior, mood, and affect..
In working with children, Lorena incorporates play, movement and art to help them explore their feelings in a way that they can relate to. She understands how crucial the family dynamic is in working with children and she aims to bring families into the treatment process to encourage positive relationships and to give families tools that they need to be successful.
