Donna Strickland, MA, LPC

Meet Donna

Donna bases her therapeutic work in mindfulness, a nonjudgmental attunement to what is happening in the moment. What that means is that she endeavors to be fully present for whatever clients bring to session and, when appropriate, to share mindfulness skills with them. She seeks to meet clients where they are and include their social contexts and identities as an integral part of therapy. She has experience working with adults dealing with stress, anxiety, depression, relationship issues, life transitions, and the effects of trauma. Her therapeutic approach draws primarily from Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, which invites mindful investigation of the ways our developmental and relationship histories continue to impact us. She also borrow from other modalities--including attachment-based psychotherapies, compassion-focused therapy, and behavioral therapies--to best meet her clients’ needs. Donna is also trained in EMDR, an evidence-based treatment for trauma. She completed an MA in Counseling Psychology at the University of Missouri and is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Missouri.
